The P-47 Thunderbolt

The P-47 Thunderbolt

The P-47 is one of the best ground-attack aircraft of all time and is also a good escort fighter. It was used in Europe as an escort fighter by the US Eighth Air Force. It never had the range to stay with the B-17's and B-24's, even with drop tanks. After it was replaced by the P-51, it was used in the close-air support and ground attack role by the US Ninth Air Force.

(Note: Three new planes have been added in, The F-85 Goblin, The A-4 Skyhawk and the A-10 Thunderbolt II)
