Operation Black Buck

If you have not read my post about the Victor and the Vulcan, read them now(both July 05.)

Part One: Declaration of War
In 1982 Argentina invaded the British dependency of the Falklands Islands. The British Royal Navy Task Force was sent to reclaim the Falklands. For this to happen the Falklands radar sites and the Port Stanley runway had to be bombed. There was one choice for this mission. The Vulcan.

Part Two: Planning and Weapons used
The base for this mission was obvious: Ascension Island, a small British defense 4000 miles from the Falklands. The weapons where to be conventional 1000-pound bombs. It was given the codename "Black Buck"

Part Three: O
peration Black Buck
The Vulcan was took off as planed and had to be refueled mutiple times to reach Port Stanley. It was refueled by Victor tankers and, when it arrived dropped its bombs on the runway. Also, the Vulcan had to fly low to avoid radar detection and interception by Agintene Mirages and Skydaggers. Similar attacks where carried out against Falkland radar sites.
