The B-26 "Widowmaker"


Hi, when I get home from VP day celebrations, I will post about it(pictures will be coming soon.)

The B-26 Widomaker
Few planes have served in two manjor wars, some have but olny a handful have served in three. The B-26 is one of these planes. Suggested as a two-engine tactical bomber, the B-26 served with the US 9th(tactical) air force in World War Two and was used in Korea and Veitnam under the desingnation A-26.

If I'm not mistaken the bomber used in all three wars was the Douglas A-26/B-26 "Invader", not to be confused with the Martin B-26 Marauder pictured above.

Correct! The airplane used in the Korean war was the Douglas B-26 "invader" The 90th Bomb Squadron based in Kunson, Korea flew B26's dubbed "light night intruders".

It's great to be proud of your dad, like I am too, I have just uploaded a series of videos about the dedication of a memorial at Boreham Airfield, England, dedicaded to the Marauder Men who gave their lives of the 394th Bomb Group a matter of months of arriving in the UK, it was attended by a grand ol veteran who was a member of the unsung ground crew. . .
